The trend of welding automation , automatic seam-tracking technique and the status of One Chip Computer's control technique in our country and abroad were introduced in this paper . The control principle of the MZ-1000 style submerged-arc welding machine which made by our country was also analyzed in this paper . The defect of this style machine , such as the unstable of welding speed , the disability of seam-tracking were discussed . The design thought of the submerged -arc welding machine with seam-tracking controlled by One Chip Computer was put forward . The machine's work principle and the function of both the hardware control circuit and the software program were demonstrated.Without changing the structure of the existing MZ-1000 style submerged-arc welding machine , the robot welding vehicle which can walk was designed . A servomotor was used to drive the vehicle. The PWM wave speed-adjust circuit of servomotor was designed and the close loop control of welding speed was realized.A double winding stepping motor was used to drive the turning of the vehicle, which can guarantee the welding gun could aim at the center of welding seam during the process of welding, and let vehicle have the function of seam-tracking.The simulate test prove the vehicle which designed in this paper controlled by One Chip Computer with the seam-tracking function can be used to produce new style submerged-arc welding machine, it's welding speed is stable and it's accuracy of seam-tracking is high.
