A column desulphurization reagent made by pulverized coal ash, slaked lime and gesso wasstudied in the article. On the basis of the previous research the effect of Fe2O3 on the desulphurization performance of the reagent was researched in the fixed-bed. The effect elements included the diameter of the reagent, vapor activation, humidifying and the continent of Fe2O3. The industrial experiment was also carried out. The results showed that column desulphurization reagent had good desulphurization performance when it was made at the condition of the optimum burden and technology.The results showed the column desulphurization reagent which efficiency of 90% or more were 5.5 hours and 42 hours on the depth of 0.6 meter and1.61 meter in the fixed-bed under the condition of 0.38 m. s-1 of velocity of empty bed and 1731 mg. m-3 of average SO2 inlet concentration. The velocity of the line of SO2 concentration in the fixed-bed was 27.6 mm. h-1. The max absorbent quantity of SO2 was 156.5 grams of SO2 per kilogram of the desulphurization reagent. The maximal lime efficiency was 78%. The depth of the desulphurization was 0.45 meter.The catalyzing mechanism of Fe2O3 was basically studied on the basis of the experiments. The results showed that there was the effect of Fe2O3 on the desulphur- ization performance of the reagent and the optimal proportion of Ca(OH)2 to Fe2O3 which was about 8.7 : 1. Fe2O3 had changed the desulphurization mechanism and declined the activation energy of the reactor to enhance the desulphurization velocity and the lime efficiency.The three series connection system was proposes in this article. This system had high efficiency, was easily manipulated and cheaper. It could also be well applied to the fluctuation of the ash quantity and the concentrations of SO2 and dust. The temperature of exiting ash was high and could be directly vented. There was almost no corruption and abration to the pipeline ang equipments.The first advantages of the column desulphurization reagent were the material could easily be reached and was cheaper. The second was the mading technics could easily be finished. The used desulphurization reagents could be recyclely entered into the reagents or crushed to be cement mixture material, bufferreagent and road buiding.
