Microbial flocculants are a kind of natural macro-molecular flocculants and will be broadly used in the future. They have been studied in details in a dozen of countries, such as U.S. A.and japanThis paper is about microbial flocculates applying in wool-scouring effluent treatment, which has three parts: screening for characteristics microbial flocculates; study of micro-organism flocculability; on treating wool-scouring effluent and extracting the crude lanolin from the sludge which was flocculated. The results showed that :4 strains of microorganisms were isolated from wool-scouring effluent .The results showed that :the flocculation of micro-organism shares a sustainable effect for biological treatment effluent. While the formation of flocculating substance depends on the the type of micro-organism, external survial enviroment will also directly affect it as well. Creating conditions to let growing extensive and compact flocculatin substance of micro-organism is the effective way to promote the efficiency of biological treatment of effluent .whether COD is 12000mg/l or 22000mg/l ,the total removal rate of COD and SS are about 80%, the total removal rate of SCOD is about 20%. but flowing COD which originality COD is 12000mg/l was 1000mg/l that can pour and flowing COD which originality COD is 22000mg/l was 4000mg/l that can not pour1g crude lanolin can be extracted from 1L wool-scouring effluent, so the total abstract rate of crude lanolin in the wool was up to 69%.
