By using the Capdetworks Software of Hydromantis Company, Canada, the wastewater treatment scheme optimizing design and technological economical analysis for Jiguanshi and Tangjiatuo WTTPs, the two principal wastewater treatment Plants of Chonqing Urban area, were made. Based on the drainage Plan of Chongqing Urban area and <> (GB8978-1996) released by China Environment Protection Ministry, the scale and water quality of influent and effluent for the two WTTPs were determined. The effect of the two WTTPs construction and operation on the water environment in Chongqing urban area was evaluated, some measurements and suggestion were put forward, and the improvement of water environment quality in Chongqing urban area was also discussed.The results demonstrated that the scheme of A2/O following by chemical Phosphorus removal should be used in the two WTTPs. For Jiguanshi WTTP, its construction scale is 60 x l04m3/d with investing ï¿¥6688.27x104, wastewater treatment costs ï¿¥0.59/m3 with ï¿¥0.27/m3 for operation management. For Tangjiatuo WTTP, respectively, 30xl04m3/d with investing ï¿¥27275xl04, wastewater treatment costs ï¿¥0.46/m3 with ï¿¥0.32/m3 for operation management. By the end of 2010, about 32850x104m3/a was treated in the two WTTPs, their effluent would meet the grade one of the discharge standard. This will decrease 9198 t CODCr/a, 49275 t BOD5/a, 72270 t SS/a, 4380 t NH3/a and 1588 t P/a, and greatly improve the water quality of Yangtze River range in Chongqing. The effecting river reaches of the two WTTPs will meet the requirement of the class 3 water reaches during the operation of Sanxia Reservoir (in 175m water level). At the same time, some suggestion for the further application of Capdetworks in China, and for the operation and management of the two WTTPs were made in this thesis.It is the first time that the Capdetworks software was used in China. The results gotten in the paper are of important value for the optimizing selection of the wastewater treatment schemes in Chongqing Urban Area. At the same time, this work will further push the application of Capdetworks software in China.
