Heavy crankshafts are key parts in heavy internal-combustionengines. Bend-upset forging is an important technology in the productionof the crankshaft. In this paper, the following work is mainly included inorder to solve the problems in the production of heavy crankshaft. 1.The RR bend-upset forging process of 601 crankshaft is numericallysimulated by the large module structure of DEFORM, its law of plasticstrain, the distribution of effective stress and effective strain and thedistribution of temperature field are given. The plastic formingcharacteristics of RR Upsetting is analyzed, and the reasons for the sunkcorner defect of formed crankshaft are also discussed. 2.Take the 601 crankshaft as an example, the changes of the die angle and a process improvement are simulated and the effect on the deformation of deformed crankshaft are given. The above researches consequently provide reference for thedevelopment and research of bend-upset forging process of heavycrankshaft.
