The crankshaft is one of the most important forge pieces of automobile. The production of crankshaft forge piece increases year after year along with increase in automobile output. There are many problems in this kind of forge piece. To solve these problems, it is seriously needed in this field to apply CAD and numerical simulation into the production. In China, many companies follow behind the companies in developed countries in this field. The paper briefly introduced characters and manufacturing status of crankshaft die forging, choosing four cylinder sleeve crankshaft with plane split surface as the typical forge piece, particularly introduced the author's ideas on CAD and numerical simulation. By the use of the CAD system in UG, the three-dimensional model of crankshaft and die can be set up parametrically. According the rigid-plastic finite element method, using the finite element numerical simulation soft—— DEFORM-3D, simulate the forming processes of crankshaft forge piece, bring foreword influence crankshaft shape's processes parameters, analysis and study some mostly influence factor of forging part shaping rule, optimize and gain possibility forge up to grade forging part's processes and die parameters. The result plays guidance to the production of crankshaft forge piece.
