With the world industry developing fast and auto industry booming, more and more plates are needed. During the course of rolling, cooling and cutting, the plates will produce shape deforming or remainder stress because of transportation and stack, such as curve, wring and so on. The workload to level these plates are quite huge and the plate quality can not be guaranteed. The increased demands made on the flatness of plates prompted us to develop Expert System on plates leveling.The principle of using this system are that it has a good user interface, and easy studying easy using. First, the user input special parameters and then to look up the database, through inference engine, to find entire matching value .If find, then transfer the existence value. If the value part-matching, then calculate the results by linear calculation. And if there are no matching, then to choose the best one from the four kinds of precepts and to calculate the leveling force and press value. If the calculated value met with the production, then store the value into database. And it will improve the machine's study ability.The Expert System applies AI technology, using the computer to learn knowledge from the field master to build up repository, and the content of repository will never lost with the change of time. The repository can be absolutely and automatically boosted up, and the database can be continued and repeatedly used. This will attain the goal to improve the plate's quality and work efficiency, and to reduce the production's cost.There are many problems with obvious experiential blur and uncertainty characters in leveling industry. Then it is exigent to develop Plates Leveling Expert System. Though it is difficult to develop this system, with the mature of ES technology, the foreground to develop and use the system is optimistic.
