It is more difficult to treat trace amount of silver and mercury ions than those of large amount in liquid. Calixarene is a kind of respecting host macrocyclic compound followed cyclodextrin and crown ether, and has strong ability of selective extraction of metal ions. P-tert/-buty/calix[4]arenc and its derivatives are synthesized in the experiment. Selective extraction for silver and mercury ions is also studied in this paper. Waste liquid produced in the experiment are recovered. According to the analysis of NMR and FTIR, the structure of ;p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene synthesized in the experiment is mainly coincide to the literature. Derivative 1 is the sulfonic acid ester derivative of calixarene. Derivative 2 is the amide derivative of calixarene. Their structures are also determined by FTIR. In the mercury ion extraction experiment, the different conditions of pH, mercury ion concentration and phase ratio which affect on the extraction efficiency are examined. In the silver ion extraction experiment, the effect of silver concentration is mainly examined. The results indicate that the derivative land 2 have extraction abilities for mercury ion, however the extraction abilities for silver ion are weak. These results show that the derivative land 2 have selective extraction abilities for mercury and silver ions. At the end of this paper, the anti extraction abilities of H2O, HO, Na2S, NH3 ?H2O and NaOH for mercury ion are discussed. Synthesis Ig derivative 1 cost 1.89 yuan according to calculation.
