Lake Wuliangsuhai is a freshwater lake mainly supplied by farmland drainage in HETAO Irrigation Area. In recent years, there is more serious eutrophication in Lake Wuliangsuhai, whose pollution sources come from industry pollution, farmland surface pollution and urban wastewater, of which the pollution from farmland accounts for large percent. So, it is important to confirm pollution quantity of all pollution sources into lake, especially quantity of farmland pollution source in order to prevent the eutrophication in Lake Wuliangsuhai. This article is a part of the subproject 9 of Eutrophication and Restoration Project in Lake Wuliangsuhai that is cooperated by China, Sweden and Norway. It mainly estimates the quantity of nitrogen, phosphorus and chemical oxygen demand (COD) of farmland surface pollution into Lake Wuliangsuhai, according to the data of water flow and water quality from sampling stations in HETAO Irrigation. Besides, this article sets up a mathematics model about contamination of drainage area and makes use of model to estimate the real input to Lake Wuliangsuhai. At last, it analyzes the reasons considering the current situation of fertilization etc. in local place.
