The most urgent thing is to cut down production cost and to enhance product quality and constantly improve competition ability and economic benefit in process of rolling bar&wire in China, thus it is possible to survive and develop in intense market competition. Energy consumption in rolling is one of the main factors of production cost. One of measures to cut down production cost is to decrease energy consumption, which includes fuel and electricity consumption and metal consumption and roller consumption and water consumption. The characteristics are that it has large deformation, high rolling speed, many passes and consumption of deformation power in high-speed bar&wire rolling process, So, decreasing energy in rolling can decrease production cost and at the same time is goal that the factory purses all while.At present, the technique aiming at minimum energy consumption, which make full use of CARD , can reduce energy consumption and stabilize the rolling process and enhance the product quality and high qualification rate finally.This paper is proposed to offer a set of software aiming at minimum energy consumption in high-speed bar&wire rolling process in Shuicheng Iron and Steel (Group) Company, which reaserch optimal design method and guide to institute reasonable technics system and suitable roll-pass.The main work hi this paper can be summarized as followed:1. Establish the relevant technology models suitable for practical pass system in rolling process and set up optimal thought and mathematics models of the optimal issue according to the condition of technology and of equipment.2. Work out the optimal software with Visual Basic 6.0.3.Analyize optimal results and provide the pass size after optimizing the practical pass system by the optimal software..The dynamic programming method is used in high-speed bar & wire rolling process for the first time in this paper and a detailed analysis was made for the result. Applying optimal design of bar pass, the rolling power comes down 2.269%. With the mathematical model which make full use of Visual Basic 6.0 and Microsoft Access database, it can obtain the optimal results of rolling system and the optimal rolling pass size by inputing the actual processing parameter. By using the perfect software not only can it save time and manpower, but has wide universality and flexible applicability. It has been applied in rolling successfully.
