Rectangle spline is one of the important parts in the power-transmission device of automobile. Compared with other process technology, open-die forward extrusion is a more advanced way. It's the key to analyze the forming feasibility, find out the way to calculate the forming force, select the suitable process parameter in open-die cold extrusion of rectangle spline.It calculates the forming force of open-die cold extrusion of rectangle spline using upper bound solute based on the three-dimensional velocity field of metal flow. For long shaft part like spline when applying open-die extrusion,the article suggests that elastic stability should be concerned and gives the method to calculate,at same time,it also analyses the problem of billet bulging. It also gets the optimizing design method of multi-layer press-fit composite cold extrusion concave die, according this method, the article develops a program using c++.For different billets and angle of concave die have great effects on metal flow, The article uses DEFORM 3D to simulate the spline cold extrusion process using different parameters and find the optimization parameters like billet diameter,concave die angle ,elastic distortion and stress distributing of concave die.
