After analysing the condition of furfural alcohol production, the paper points out that the main technology to produce furfural alcohol is hydrogenation in liquid phase. Owe to itself performance, copper chromite catalyst still plays an important role in furfurol alcohol production. As the improvement of working condition and technique of recycle for used catalyst,copper chromite catalyst does little harm to human beings. All these things accelerate the development of copper chromite catalyst. But the perfomence of copper chromite catalyst produced in civil is far below that from abroad, So it is necessary to develop a high performance one.Studying a lot of related documents , analyzing the copper chromite catalyst made in China and America by modern analysing technique, the composition, crystal structure and grain structure of the catalyst can be deduced, Therefore material and scheme to make experiments can be design primarily; After necessary experiments proper material and scheme can be confirmed; At last some parameters to prepare the catalyst are investigated.Since furfurol quality has an heavy effect on its hydrogenation reaction and furfurol quality of different factories differs largely, the paper also investigates the influence of CaO on furfurol hydrogenation .After the new improved copper chromite catalyst is made successfully in the laboratory, the catalyst is then applyed in industry and achieved a good results which is equal to that of catalyst from abroad and better than that of demestic ones, so the development of improved copper chromite catalyst is successful.
