Compact spinning is a new technique developed to reduce the hairiness ofyarn. Compact spinning technique makes drafting,compacting and twistingseparated adopting compact set. Compact spinning can reduce spinningtriangular space to minimum,decrease yarn hairiness,improve yarn breakstrength and break elongation ,improve the resultant yarn quality. Theprinciple of compact spinning technique and the structure of compact spinningsystems are introduced. According to different compact methods, the compactspinning systems are classified. The systems are separated with air-compactand airless-compact spinning systems, and air-compact spinning systems areseparated with roller-compact, leather roller-compact, apron-compact andlattice apron-compact systems. At the meantime, the performance andcharacteristic of compact spinning systems are analyzed and compared.An actual compact spinning system is made according to EJM128K spinningframe. Spinning experiments are carried out to discuss compact spinningtechnology. Based on experiments, we have some conclusion.The self-made compact spinning system belongs to air-compact spinningsystem, it can reduce spinning triangular space to minimum,decrease yarnhairiness, especially long hairiness. The compact effect and resultant yarnquality are affected by draft multiple, air negative pressure and nip linepressure. Draft multiple should be in the range of 1.01 to 1.07. Suctionpressure should be in the range of 80 mm to 90 mm hydraulic pressure. The yarncrosses the nip line of block roller and is twisted. The pressure of nip shouldrange from 70 N to 80 N. Adopting air guide palte can improve the utility ofair flow and strong compact effect.
