With the development of machine and cutter for high-speed milling, the application of high-speed milling steps up to the stage of manufacturing history. And for its obvious advantage it is important step by step. From the view point of supporting the project of Jiangsu scientific technology, this paper focused on research of the technology of NC automatic programming system navigating by knowledge, and realized the NC automatic programming navigating by knowledge for two-dimension machining of high speed milling included the module of NC automatic programming navigating by knowledge and the module of tool-path graphic editor. The core of research is the module of NC automatic programming navigating by knowledge. According to the characteristic of knowledge which used in two-dimension machining of high speed milling, new knowledge-representation meaning which combines database saving experience with the rule base is put forward in this paper. After the research of the machining feature of two-dimension pocket and contour, the algorithm of machining feature recognition is presented. Moreover, Preliminary study for template base proceeded in this paper and the technology generating the template included the part features and machining parameters is realized. On the basis of these, The NC automatic programming for the two-dimension contour and pocket machining of high speed milling guiding by knowledge is achieved. The tool-path editor, which is the necessary part of the system amends and perfects the generated tool path by means of graphic so that the knowledge base can be updated. Except the algorithm of basic tool path editor, such as operator of deleting, filleting and offset, the algorithm of advanced tool path editor including the mirror copy and rotate mirror is introduced and realized in this paper, too. On the basis of these, the fast generation of the NC milling toolpath for rough machining of symmetrical multi-pocket is presented and realized.
