Retaining ring is one of the key components of generating set。The level of its quality is the marking of one country's generating set.300MWMn18Cr18N retaining rings of our country all depend on importing. It is vital to study on the technique of huge retaining ring. Retaining ring requires high strength because of its heavy load and terrible working-condition. Since retaining ring's material must be austenitic steel, its high strength can only be obtained by work-hardening. Hydraulic expansion with additional liquid is a potential strengthening process of retaining ring and the study of it is valuable. There are many influencing factors in this process, so the impact analysis is very important. For the production of the 300MW Mn18Cr18N retaining ring, the paper introduces the production technique of the large-sized retaining ring and gives the equipment and principle of hydraulic expansion with additional liquid, the dimensional inspection and the regularity of forming. The paper analyzes the internal pressure required by the yield of blank and the maximum pressure in the hydraulic expansion. By the use of ANSYS, the influence of different processing parameters is given and the blank dimension is derived. The paper designs the angle of the die and the size of the resistance ring for 300MW retaing ring. The stress and deformation analysis of dangerous point with various frame outlines is done, and the optimum physical dimension of the heavy frame used in the 300MW retaining ring is provided.
