Resistance spot welding is the main method, which is used widely in allaspects of the modern production. According to the data, the quantity used by thespot welding is about 33 percent of that used by overall welding method. Thecheck-up of the welding quality is a important aspect in the process of the weldingwhich can control the welding quality and avoid the waster. Now guarantee everywelding spot is crucial to the welding quality.Resistance welding have large welding current and short welding time and itsmany disturb factors affect each other. The welding procession is instantaneousand the formation of the spot is sightless. So the welder cannot find out theproblem and make reaction in time. The quality of the welding spot is correlatedto the welding parameter, For resistance spot welding, the connection intensity ofwelding joint mainly decided by geometry dimension of the weld nugget, andwhich are controlled by many spot welding process parameters, such as weldingcurrent, welding period, electrode force, diameter of electrode tip and so on.Among of them, welding time and diameter of electrode tip can easily becontrolled accurately, so the geometry dimension of the weld nugget and theconnection intensity of welding joint usually affected by the welding current andthe electrode force. Therefore sampling the welding current and the electrodeforce in data acquisition system is the key point in sampling spot welding processparameters,and also plays as the important role in reality welding production.In order to meet these needs, the paper has finished the design of dataacquisition system for resistance spot welding based on USB bus and realized thebasal data acquisition foundation, Using USB bus to transfer data blazed a way incommunication between data acquisition system and computer. This systemwhich mainly acquire the parameter about weld current can realize dataacquisition, storage, transfer and data display. And the hardware system takingC8051F020 single-chip microcomputer as core that is the SOC series product ofCYGNAL Inc, input channel, USB interface, LCD display and power supplycircuit are analyzed in detail. The data collected through A/D module integrated inthe single-chip microcomputer can processed simply and real time display in theLCD.
