A discussion on knowledge of design and user in terms of industrial design as related to the knowledge and meta-knowledge based on framework of ICAID (Internet Based Computer Aided Industrial Design) for NCMT (Numerical Controlled Machine Tools) is presented. The experiments with the survey, the tasks analysis and the image scale analysis were carried out to study the meta-knowledge of the design, and the domain knowledge, the rules of interpreting, mapping and judgment were proposed. Based on the experiments, this thesis had presented the meta-knowledge of organization, the research of knowledge's classifying, and the application of meta-knowledge in the knowledge storage of ICAID. Studying the cognitive process of designing and knowledge of design, this thesis elicits two cognitive processes, top-down and bottom-up processing which corresponding the map of image scale and the sketch machine. The application of meta-data provided a feasible approach to the knowledge storage. Researching on the features, functions of the ICAID system and the processing mechanisms of knowledge, this thesis had analyzed the model of knowledge framework of ICAID system. A knowledge-based system model of ICAID for NCMT and the ICAID system were built up. Based user wrong analytic method, this article converge rule-based mistakes and behaviors about user can't carry out to the meta-knowledge mistakes in the system, and provide the improvement comments to the existing CAID system about the meta-knowledge mistakes. According to the improvement opinions, this article proposed the system optimization plans.
