Advanced Oxidation Processes is characterized by high reactivity having hydroxyl radicals in the oxidation processes. Eletro-Fenton method has the capability of generated ·OH by the following reaction between ferric ion (Fe2+) and hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) in the electrochemical oxidation processes. The Electrogenerated-Fenton process can be applicated for the treatment of wastewater such as dyes, Di-n-butylphthalate and hydroxybenzene. The experimental results were gained by the measurement of IR, UV-Vis in the treatment process. Electro-generated Fenton reagent was valuable for degradating most of organic contamination in the wastewater at a certain condition. As hydroxyl radicals are nonselective species, it was explicitly exhibited by the concentration decrease and color disappearance. The kinetics of the contamination degradation were investigated, which were obeyed first order reaction model, and rate constants were confirmed. Finally, the degradation mechanism was studied in aqueous medium by HPLC and a mechanism reaction pathway was proposed. In the summary, a novel and convenient method has been established for treating organic wastewater by electrochemical process.
