Abundant crude lacquer resources in China have been served as coating for a long time. The basis ingredient of crude lacquer is urushiol that has excellent corrosion resistance and heat resistance. But urushiol has a poor resistance to alkali because phenol hydroxyl of urushiol shows weak acidity. Meanwhile, inherent brittleness of urushiol has limited its development and application.In this paper, urushiol-Titanium chelate polymer was synthesized through tetrabutyl titanate reacting with the product which is from polymerization between urushiol and formaldehyde, which endows urushiol and Titanium atom with macromolecular performance and functional performance, respectively.At the same time, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), infrared spectroscopy (IR) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) were utilized to discuss mechanism of the polymerization, characteristic of the structure and performance of the polymer(PUT).Once nanometer material was introduced into the product which is mixture of PUT and epoxy resin, the resistance to alkali and conventional and physical-mechanical properties of the anti-corrosion coatings based on PUT are improved.This research has offered the theoretical and experimental basis in improving the defects of urushiol, simultaneously, it enable the unique performance of the urushiol giving play in the new anti-corrosion field and promoting the application and research of the lacquer along with the transition of the heat radiator.
