| The urban environment is tightly related to the traffic. At present, problems between the urban environment and the traffic are becoming more and more serious, and much more countries and regions are seeking ways to solve the problem actively. As a river valley city, compared with the other moderate scale cities, this problem becomes more prominent and urgent in Lanzhou, Gansu province. This paper studies some relations between the traffic and the environment, and the results on the basic relations are summarized as follows:(1) The relation between land use and traffic demands is studied. According to the planning guides, it analyzes the present conditions of land use. Furthermore, it also analyzes the characteristics of traffic demands and forecasts the traffic demands and the amount of power-driven vehicles in 2010. At last, it assesses the planning of land use and traffic demands and some measures are proposed.(2) The traffic impact on the environment is analyzed. Public vehicle, especially the impact of the big and middle buses, is 40% in the total traffic capacity in Lanzhou, which is becoming the principal and important section. So the public transport of regular time and route is chosen and analyzed. It includes the environment impact of the transit, the environment noise impact of the vehicle flux, analysis of noise pollution of the traffic sites and mail roads, and the environment impact of atmosphere.(3) It analyzes the environment impact of the traffic policy. In an extensive sense, the traffic policies as an orientation and requirement, its influences on the environment are discussed.(4) Based on the analysis of the sustainable traffic patterns, we should take measures to make the transport development a sustainable style in the 21th century, associated with the land use and the actual conditions in Lanzhou. |
