With the fast development of industry, the increasing petroleum hydrocarbon pollutants pollutes atmosphere, soil and water systems, make great damage to animals, plants and human society. In spite of that fact that many researches have been made for the treatment process of petroleum, conventional physics, physical chemistry, chemistry and electrochemical methods could not make good effect, more dispose should be done.The biological method has many advantages such as low investment, low running cost, low dissipation of energy, small secondary pollution and so on. And the microbe increases rapidly, with feasible habitat and specific nutritive element, it could increase to a large number.Therefore, the biological method for disposing petroleum hydrocarbon pollutants has feasibility and operation significance. The biological method could separatet and resolve petroleum hydrocarbo more completely, it could remove ethane, isobutane, phenols ramification effectively from waste water. The removal rate of ethane could approve to 77% around, the removal rate of phenols ramification could be 85%-100%, with low cost and without secondary pollution.As compared with the conventional physico/chemical method, biological method has its unique advantages in breaking down petroleum hydrocarbon pollutants, and has become to be the major method of being researched. This article introduced the initial research of breaking down petroleum hydrocarbon pollutants with biological method.This article selected petroleum hydrocarbon in waste drilling slurry as research object. The results repoted as follows:(1) A bacterial named Y-2 which can highly degrade petroleum hydrocarbon have obtained by enriching, screening, acclimatizing the strains in soil which contaminated by petroleum hydrocarbon. The strain Y-2 was identefed Candida through experiments on colony, individual and physiologic.(2) The best enxironmental conditions for the growth of Y-2 are 30℃, rotation rate 200rpm pH 4.5, inoculum quantity 9% by analyzed the result of orthogonal table experiment. The effects order of each parameter is temperature>rotation rate>pH>4.5>inoculate quantity.(3) The effect of ntrient substance on petroleum hydrocarbon in waste drilling slurry biodegradation was studied.
