In the production and management of petroleum & gas pipelines, by using traditional management method, a great number of various pipelines information is labeled on a graph which includes different kinds of data such as pipelines, equipments, etc. So it is difficult for us to recognize the graph, check and classify the data and answer up when urgency. With the gradual increase of business, the traditional management method has revealed its inadaptability increasingly, such as the expenditure of plenty of manpower and material resources, the low accuracy of data and the poor reaction ability when urgency, and so on. Therefore, it is necessary to substitute advanced information technology for traditional management method in the production and management of petroleum & gas pipelines. With the increasing maturity of AM/FM/GIS, we can display, store and deal with detail-rich geography data through AM/FM/GIS, and combine all kinds of attributive data and graphic data systematically to provide decision support and statistical analysis, especially on the management of petroleum & gas pipelines. This paper focuses on the issues of the pipelines' management, and uses AM/FM/GIS technology to complete the design and development of the Management System of Petroleum & Gas Pipelines of Talimu Oilfield Corporation. This paper mainly focuses on the following contents.1) Introduces and summarizes AM/FM/GIS, network analysis and spatial data management technology, and probes into the automatization objects of GeoMedia and its three development methods.2) Works on the shortest path analysis and its application in the management of petroleum & gas pipelines based on the Dijkstra arithmetic and Floyd arithmetic, then compares and analyzes the two arithmetic's efficiency.3) Introduces the mode of integration and connection between AM/FM/GIS and SCADA, then studies the integration application: analysis of pipe burst.4) Realizes the function of the Management System of Petroleum &Gas Pipelines of Talimu Oilfield Corporation based on AM/FM/GIS.
