The regeneration of granular activated carbon(GAC) loaded with aniline was systematically studied by electrochemical method, and The regeneration efficiency(RE) might assess the level that the electrochemical method regenerated granular activated carbon(GAC).In order to confirm which electrode system electrochemical regeneration of granular activated carbon(GAC) belonged to, the saturated GAC loaded with aniline were regenerated in different working area. According to these facts that included that colour and infrared spectrogram of electrolyte and the relationship between regeneration efficiency(RE) and current intensity, the course of electrochemical regeneration was bipolar three-dimensional electrode system. The experiment on the RE and different working area implyed that there was a certain relation between the RE and the voltage distributing of the polarizing GAC. In addition, the regenerating current was the current which transitted not the main electrode but the polarizing GAC by the experiment on the RE and the current intensity. From the results of above analysis, the mechanism of electrochemical regeneration of GAC was that the saturate GAC were polarrized by electric field, and aniline adsorbed on GAC was oxidated and produced nitros-group compound; in the acid medium, aniline transformed...
