In this thesis, a internal and external analyse and research about design, modeling and machining of ball-end cutters is reviewed. On the base of grinding trait of MK6335A five-axis numerical control drill grinder, in the present study, differential geometry, ruled surface concept,envelope and inverse-envelope theory, coodinate transfer and numeric analyse are used to develop a mathmatical model and systematic method for the design, analyse and simulation of ball-end cutters. Which include cutting-edge curves, rake & flank face , edge angle, tool paths of enveloping rake & flank face, post processing technique of coordinate transfer, design-analyse and simulation sofeware. The research would offer sufficient academic basics and direction about manufacturing of ball-end cutters on the existing NC grinder. It would be ready for virtual manufacture of ball-end cutters.Firstly, the traditional cutting-edge models with constant helix angle of ball-end cutters are analyzed and the befitting normal helix models are proposed , and helical peculiarities of them are analyzed by definition of helix angle.Secondly, based on cutting edge geometric model and machining mode of MK6335A grinder, the rake face with constant normal rake angle and flank face with constant orthogonal clearance angle models of ball-end cutters are discussed. The cutting geometry angle parameters are solved and analyzed. Moreover, the tool paths models of wheel which grinding are builded and the post-processing technique for coordination transfer is studied. In addition, the auto program system of ball-end cutters is discussed .Finally, acoording to design ideology of software, based on VC++ software platform, made use of COM component of MATLAB and OpenGL control technique, various mathematical model are analyzed visually, and three dimensions simulatioan of ball-end cutters are realized. The validity of the theories presented in this dissertation is verified by simulation results.
