Foamed aluminum is a new structural and functional composite porous metal material developed in recent years. Its excellent properties and applied prospects have drawn attention of many technologists. But the basic theories producing foamed aluminum in high temperature were not yet fully understood, especially the foaming mechanism and dynamic study, that is the growth and evolvement of pore in the aluminum melt.In the experimentation, at first, we researched the influencial factors on the .foaming process, such as the quantity of Ca, foaming temperature, the quantity of TiH2, stirring time, stirring intensity, foaming time and so on and we obtained the optimal process parameters. Then we researched the foaming process theoretically, including the decomposition of TiH2 and some dynamic laws, obtained the theoretical pore radius and interfacial altitude by means of C program. Afterwards the H-t curve of aluminum melt during its foaming process were drawn out by experiments. Based on the H-t curve and comparison with theoretical results, the experiment analyzed the law of foaming process and provided many theoretical gist and guidance for the preparation of foamed aluminum.Third, the paper has also made elementary research of pure aluminum direct foaming to economize and reduce process. By experiment, we can obtained ideal foamed aluminum through using powder of CaO and nano-SiO2 as viscosity rising substances. But the further research on the process and the properties of the kind of foamed aluminum should be carried out.
