The cantilever screen vibration sifter, which is developed to solve the material blocking problem in the processing of sinter's particle size classification in blast furnace system, has been greatly considered to be applied to preventing material particles blocking in the screen, which will result in lower screening efficiency. However, the existing screening theory is only true of the close-hole screen, on the other hand, which has been worked out for cantilever screen still remains undefined or un-systematical. By the sponsorship from the Science and Technology Development Plan Project (STDPP) of Jinan [041029], screening theory, optimization design method and virtual prototyping analysis for cantilever screen vibration sifter were researched, while its structural characteristics and corresponding screening mechanism were discussed profoundly.The screening procession was divided into three parts: material's moving on the screen surface, material's layering and material's through-going the screen. A theoretical system for the screening processing had been worked out for the cantilever screen vibration sifter, which is based on the theory of ordinary vibration sifter. Mathematical modeling about the material moving on the layered surface was established to find out the method to calculate the mean velocity and the jumping times of material. Material layering was modeled in the direction perpendicular to the screen surface for the calculation of the maximal thickness of material. Special characteristics during material going through the screen surface were figured out definitely to calculate material's through-going probability and the screening efficiency on the cantilever screen.Based on the comparison between ordinary and cantilever screen vibration sifter, structural creativities for the latter were found out mainly in layered cantilever screen's structure. Screening procession of cantilever screen was dividedly analyzed in aspects of secondary vibration of cantilever sticks, through-going probability, material's movement down the screen surface and screen's layered structure.
