With the improvement of industrialization rhythms and urbanization levels, water pollution has become one of the major problems universally, so many researchers have been making studies and explorations in wastewater treatment field.In this paper, the object is a high concentrated acidic organic wastewater which is from diosgenin wastewater. Combination of UASB and SBR to deal with high concentrated acidic organic wastewater has been investigated. Consecutive experiment in combination process of UASB+SBR took over 50 days, in which excess activated sludge from domestic sewage plant served as original sludge. The experiment studys on the method eliminating the restraint of sulphate and finds a way in the rapid start-up of UASB.The result shows that excess activated sludge from domestic sewage plant served as original sludge achieves the rapid start-up of UASB successfully by adding appropriate scrap iron and granule active carbon to UASB. Besides, anaerobic particular sludge was cultured in a short time (about 21 days). Meanwhile, the result shows that the influence of SO42- on biological treatment system is eliminated. After starting up UASB, for wastewater containing COD(34000mg/L), the COD removal efficiency was over 95%, COD value was about 1300mg/L in effluent water.Furthermore, aerobic treatment experiment was used for searching best hydraulic retention time(HRT). Finally, effluent quality has reached secondary discharge standard by treatment of using SBR .This rapid start-up method provides an example for disposing wastewater resembled acidic organic wastewater in high concentration in combination process of UASB+SBR.
