Nd doped Gd3Ga50,2 could be applied in solid-state heat capacity laser, This paper briefly introduced the development of crystal , then had a detailed introduction for Nd:GGG in physical and crystallographic characteristic. Polycrystalline material was prepared by solid-state reaction and liquid-state reaction, NdrGGG crystal was grown by Czochralski method, we most partly solved the volatilization of gallium. According to the defect theory, we observed and analyzed the defects.And after that, the grown crystals were processed into elements, then we took the test of crystal performaceThe size of Nd:GGG crystal was 20-25X100-120mm, element size was ^SXQBvm, 3X3X2mm. The stimulated emission section of Nd:GGG was o ( A )=21. 63X 10~20cm2, the main absorption peak of Nd:GGG was 808nm, where the absorption width was more than lOnm. Under pluse xemon lamp pumped, at valid length of 35mm, we got 24. 77mJ static laser output, which implied the Nd:GGG crystal was in normal laser state.
