Aluminum foam is a composite material consisting of metallic matrix and gas bubbles. It combined the properties such as high strength, fire-proof of the metal aluminum with the properties such as dynamic anti-vibration, sound and heat isolation, impact absorption and electro-magnetic shielding of the isolated vesicle. So it could be widely used in various fields, such as transportation, architecture and machine, metallurgy and chemical industry, electro-communication and aerospace. Aluminum foam is regarded as a very important research project of high tech field of material science, and it is widely explored in the world. Preparation of aluminum foam is also supported by the key science and technology projects and the high tech research and development projects in our country.In industry applications, mechanics performance of aluminum foam, especial it's energy-absorbing performance has attracted more and more people's attentions, because of good toughness of its based metal, pure aluminum foam is also paid more and more attentions as a toughness metal foam material.In this study, the melt foaming method was studied to fabricate pure aluminum foam. Raw material was pure aluminum, viscosity-increasing agent was Ca, foaming agent was TiH2.During experiment in lab-scale, optimal technics condition and parameter in crucible foaming process was given: addition quantity of viscosity-increasing agent was 2~3% (mass) , addition quantity of foaming agent was 1.0~1.5% (mass) , the temperature to add foaming agent was 690~700℃. Process of transferring foaming in quadrate box is based on crucible experiment. During process of transferring foaming, foaming temperature and foaming time was studied. When foaming temperature is 640~680℃ and foaming time is 45min, we can obtain satisfactory products. Based on lab-scale experiments, the experiment in semi-industry was done, the result shows that the commercial aluminum foam slabs sized 2000mm×1000mm ×Xmm were obtained. The reason of cause disfigurement during semi-industry experimentation was analyzed and method of resolving the disfigurement was discussed later.Compress performance and electromagnetism shielding were tested.
