This paper outlines the usage of digital equipment of Jining Vocational and Technical College and analyses the mechanical, electrical, hydraulic/pneumatic faults on the representative THS5640/2 digital processing center and CKA6150 lathe firstly. It introduces five classified methods which are used for common fault diagnosis in numerical control machine tools and has designed flow charts of fault diagnosis, discussing the conventional treatment methods of that; And then it introduces the concept and features of expert systems, status of research, development directions of fault diagnosis system and the achieved steps of expert system of fault diagnosis, creating a knowledge base and reasoning machine. At the same time, it also introduced the features and operational environment of Visual Prolog and designed computer interface for digital machine expert system of fault diagnosis.
