Melamine cyanurate (MCA) is an important nitrogen flame retardant, particularly suitable for polyamide. But usually the dispersion of MCA in PA matrix is not good, leading negative influence on flame retardancy. The extinguish time is long and the melt-drip of PA6 easily ignite the absorbent cotton. In this paper, the self-assembly of melamine-cyanurate was conducted in inorganic acid solution of polyamide 6, realizing the preparation of MCA and its surface modification simultaneity. The investigation results showed that the modified MCA had good compatibility with PA6 and the flame retardancy was excellent compared with traditional MCA. FI-IR, DSC, XRD, TGA, SEM analysis were adopted to characterize the chemical structure of the modified MCA and fire-resistance mechanism were analyzed.Glass-reinforced polyamide 6 is widely applied for the manufacturing of housings for electrical devices. But melamine cyanurate is not suitable for glass fiber reinforced system. To meet a V-0 classification in the UL 94 test, melamine polyphosphate are added in glass fiber reinforced system. Melamine polyphosphate was synthesized from melamine and polyphosphate acid in a solvent. Its structures and thermal behaviors were studied using infrared spectrophotometer and thermal gravimetric analysis. To achieve improved...
