Being an efficient protacol of C-C bond formation, transition metal-catlyzed conjugate addition of organoboronic acids toα,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds has been paid much attention in the past few years. On the base of well studied Rh,Pd catalyst, a Ni complex catalyst systeme is developed in this paper for the first time. After a large quantity of tries on the catalyst, ligand, tempreture, solvent and things related, the best catalyst systeme is found. For the first time, Ni(I) generated from Fe-NiCl2(PPh3)2 was found to be able to catalyze this kind of reaction. With MVK and phenylboronic acid as the substrates, fairly good yield of 4-phenylbutan-2-one can be separated in 84% at 90℃with Fe/ NiCl2(PPh3)2/PPh3/KI as the catalyst in Toluene-DMAC. Some further research has been done to expound the range of substrates. The probable mechanism of this reaction also is proposed in this paper.
