Montmorillonite(MMT) is one kind of important mineral clays containing the aqueous aluminosilicate, which has a lot of special properties because of its particular crystal structure. Montmorillonite not only possesses huge area but their pore structure can be controlled by the distances between the silicate layers and distance between the pillars. Make use of pillared MMT to resolve the environment problem with high adsorption and low cost will have the huge economic efficiency and the good environment effect. The synthesis of pillared interlayered clays has led to the development of a new class of microporous materials of potential interst as adsorbents, which provides a new way to remove the pollutant in the environment. In the thesis, the process of cetyltrimethyl ammonium brom(CTAB) montmorillonite and titanium montmorillonite synthesis has been studied.CTAB-MMT was characterized by XRD,XPS,FTIR,DTA-TG and TEM measurement. Based on the experimental results, the powder XRD analysis was performed to determine the interlayer spacing of CTAB-MMT to analysis the status of organic chains. It is clear that the interlayer spacing of MMT increased after modification, which indicated that the organic reagents had intercalated into the layers of Na-MMT by cation exchange. Organic montmorillonite combines inorganic montmorillonite's excellent dilatability, adsorption and dispersion with huge hydrophobic area, so it has very good affinity for organic substance and has been widely used in organic system. Experimental results indicate that the Ti-Pillared montmorillonite which was disposed in certain temperature and pressure for hours is better to removing arsenic in water than the others, and the aluminum in the interval of Na-montmorillonite has been replaced by titanium effectively, during which anatase-TiO2 is completely built and the structure of Ti-pillared is formed. Pillared MMT is used to adsorb the pollutant in the environment, which are fixed in the interlayer of MMT not on the surface so that these harmful materials lose the ability of further pollution in the environment.
