The thesis focuses on analysis and design of a new controllable mechanical metal forming press based on 2-DOF (Degree-Of-Freedom) seven-bar planar mechanism. It is driven by a large constant speed motor and a small servo motor. The hybrid mechanism has both the advantages of conventional mechanism and the advantages of programmable mechanism.The mechanism framework are presented. The forward and reverse resolutions of kinematics are calculated by using the close vector means, and corresponding numerical examples are also given to validate their resolutions.The singularity and mobility condition of mechanism are analyzed. And the condition number of velocity Jacobian matrix is made as the evaluation index of mobility performance. The effective degrees of different bars on the condition number are given. On the analysis of output parameter's error, the effective degrees of different bars on size error are obtained. The real workspace chart is plotted, and effects of different design parameters on the volume and shape of the real workspace. By using the physical model theory, the atlases of evaluation criteria is plotted. Based on which a desirable design is derived, the static force distribution is studied for obtaining the comfortable mechanism size.The mechanism parameters are confirmed according to the mobility performance, real workspace and force distribution, then a controllable mechanical press is designed, ideal movement curve is also plotted.The research of this thesis provides better base on the later study of the controllable mechanical press.
