According to the national policies and planning, FGD (Flue gas desulphurization) implementation on built coal-fired power plants will be currently an important project in the field of operating power plant technical alteration. Firstly the author of this article investigates and introduces the SO2 control policy, the desulphurization technology during different phases (pre-combustion, combustion, past-combustion) of coal-fired power plant, and the development & utilization of SO2 control technology all over the world, and also describes the background, research field and purposes of this research project in the article.In the second part of the article, the author describes the investigations of actual construction conditions of flue gas desulphurization project for 2x300 MW unit of Data Power Plant, such as the local supply of desulphurization absorber, the treatment of desulphurization by-product and the general utilization condition, desulphurization site and so on.In the third part of the article, the author analysis the advantageous and unadvantageous of desulphurization processes in the different phases (pre- combustion, combustion, past-combustion) based on the desulphurization process characteristics, and the characteristics of different types desulphurization equipment in power plant , and conclude that FGD is the most efficient way to control the SO2 emission. The author optimizes desulphurization technology from safety, stability, economy and other aspects, and the conclusion is the lime stone -gypsum wet desulphurization method is matured process and suitable for different coal, high desulphurization efficiency and the system reliable. It's recommend as the primary process.In the fourth part, the author introduced the critical equipment, the process and the typical layout of lime stone -gypsum wet desulphurization method. And explained the details of sub-system of desulphurization process, such as preparation for power system, Preparation for absorbent system, absorbent tower, heat exchange, De-sulfur gypsum treatment system and analyzed the pros and cons of different layout.In the fifth part, the author explained the design of lime stone-gypsum wet desulphurization method utilized in 300 MW power plant.
