Metal sheet-strip plays an important role in national economy. Customers have brought forward more strict demands for sheet-strip quality along with increase of strip requirements. The temper mill that used to improve the quality of sheet-strip were put to use widely and developed. The temper mill, which used to improve the quality of sheet-strip, was applied widely and developed deeply. It is the key to temper quality whether the temper elongation is set correctly and keep stable during tempering. Hence, based on the analysis of the temper rolling, it is of much importance to establish a new series of FE rolling force model for the temper rolling. At the same time, it is also of much importance in theory and practice to investigate the effect of variable plate shape controlling measures on the plate shape after the temper rolling during the tempering.A practical FE model of rolling force for the temper rolling is established, based on the previous study by the aid of CAD software, considering the characteristics of the small reduction of rollers and the elongation of rolled workpieces. Visual Basic.NET and Mentat are adopted to further develop MSC.Marc and to compile automatically program generator of the force model of the temper rolling.In order to study the effect of the rolling force and the roll bending force, during the temper rolling, on the shape of rollers gap, a 1/4 model of the temper rolling was established. The force distribution of rollers and the distortion of the rollers under variable load cases are computed. A half model of the temper rolling can be generated through the expansion of the 1/4 model. The effect of the work roller horizontal shift on the roller gap under load is analyzed, and the effect of the combine of the work roller horizontal shift and the roll bending force on the roller gap under load and the sheet strip's thickness distribution ofcross-section is analyzed.A rolling test is conducted on the two-roller mill in the rolling laboratory of Yanshan University, to investigate the reliability and the veracity of the model of the temper rolling. The test results and the FE results agree with each other basically.
