Micro electrical discharge machine is a kind of important equipment ofprecise mould manufacturing, which has significant station in mouldindustry. Modern mould manufacturing requires micro electricaldischarge machine to have higher machining precision, and mechanicalproperties of spindle's strut member affect machining precision directly,therefore reasonable designing of spindle's strut member has hugesignificant to enhance machining precision.In this paper, research on spindle's strut member of micro electricaldischarge machine is given, including designing structure of strutmember, resolving dynamic force, optimizing structure based on theoriesof Finite Element Methods. At last, the author will analysis of static anddynamic characteristics of strut member after optimization. It will certifythe reasonable of design. The main contents include:1. Analysis of mechanical function on four shafts micro electricaldischarge machine, reasonable designing general layout of machine, anddetermine the structure of strut member.2. Feature modeling of spindle's strut system is established. Then establish dynamics model, analyzing the affection of mainly dynamicforce(inertia force and coupling force)and certaining limited workingconditions(retract).3. Kinematics simulation is given, which can verify whether thekinematic parameters of spindle cohere with the designing request. Andthrough the curve of acceleration, we can get the curve of spindle's inertiaforce which affects deformation of strut member.4. Fluid-solid coupling model of electrode tip and cutting fluid isestablished. Resolve coupling force of electrode based on FEM(FiniteElement Method), when electrode tip is working in cutting fluid. And alsoanalyze the affection of electrode' shape to coupling force.5. Design several structure programs of strut member and choose theone of the best dynamic characteristic. Based on virtual prototype, strutmember will be defined to flexible body. When the virtual prototypeoperates in different working conditions, it can verify whether the strutmember has enough dynamic stiffness and whether the deformationcoheres with designing standard.Through the research of paper, it will realize the reasonable design ofspindle's strut system for micro electrical discharge machine, which hasimportant influence to improve the machining precision of microelectrical discharge machine.
