Deformations of a welded structure injure the beauty of appearance of a structure and cause errors during the assembly of the structure. In addition, weld deformations reduce the strength of the structure. The correction of weld deformations requires reworks and decreases productivity. Therefore, developing a precise method to predict and control the deformations is essential. The equivalent load method based on the inherent strain is studied in this thesis. It is an efficient method for predicting the welding deformation of complicated structures. The main contents are as follows: first, study the different welding temperature field by different parameter, find out how the different parameters affect ; second, compare with the experiment ,and change differ parameter until get a exact temperature field; third ,compute the degree of restraint of the T-model structure by the experiment results and the panel restraint which was carried out by the unit loads method; fourth, compute the inherent strain by the max-temperature and the restraint , and transient it to the equivalent loads; at last, loads the equivalent loads to the T-model structure and account to the deformations of a welded structure. The conclusions show that the method presented in this thesis is accurate and available. It can prepare an error-minimizing guide at design stage and predict reasonably and efficiently the welding deformations of large structures. It can be used in accuracy management and simulation of deformations and CAD systems by shipyard.
