Nowadays, there are many unreasonable phenomenons on garment market about the set-up of sizing systems. The main reason was that our national standards still have many to develop. So this research focused on the method of optimizing the configuration of sizing systems.Started from the market, and based on the available theory & experiences, the garment sizing systems market was subdivided by the factors such as natural area, age and sex etc. And the model of how to segment the market was carried out according to the market segmentation theory. The result offered more precise basic theory for the research about the sizing systems. What's more, it should make the latter research more specific and penetrated.Then this article had carried entire statistic analysis on the male body data of the lower Yangtse River region. Simultaneously, compared the configuration of sizing systems in our state and abroad, it had gotten the way of configuring the garment sizing systems that adapted to our research market. Compared with our national standards of sizing systems for male garment, this research had the following characteristics:1. It added three items such as waist length, back width and crotch height to the garment control dimensions. 2. It still classified the male body to Y/A/B/C types by the odds of chest&waist. But the value range were changed, the average value is 16/12/6/0.3. It pointed out that the choice of the control dimensions and size designation of the garment should be distinguished by the garment classification.4. It announced that different kinds of garment should have different way to set up size system.5. It brought out a "three in one" table of garment sizing systems.Finally, some conclusions were verified by actual examples throughthe analyses of the data which came from the investigation of some garment manufacturer and seller. The results indicated that the method of market segmentation and the set-up of sizing systems coincided with the actural circumstance of our target market. In addition, this research had qualitatively analyzed the potential factors which affected the configuration of sizing systems in macro-environment of the market, therefore it put forward some new subjects.
