As the large sheet metal forming parts become more and more complicated, the design of drawbead, as a key measure to control the drawing is focused on by many scholars and engineers. At present, in the process of large sheet forming mould design, the determination of drawbead layout form and geometry parameter etc often base on experience. During the checkout of mould, it need too much adjustment and sanding. These will prolong the mould design and manufacture cycle. In order to design drawbead efficiently, this paper research the drawbead layout form and the geometry parameter optimum design. The goal is to shorten the design and manufacture cycle of mould and improve the quality of product.Using quadrate box as the research object, drawbead layout which notably affect the sheet forming quality is studied. Using the blank variation as the quality evaluation criterion, this paper changes the drawbead layout form and carried different numerical simulation experiences. The purpose is to study the effect of different drawbead layout form. Through this research, the favorable drawbead layout strategy is given. It is very important to guide the design of drawbead layout form in the large sheet forming process.After determining the drawbead layout form and the structure form, the major adjustment is to change the drawbead geometry parameters. In order to explore rational geometry parameter design method, a cross member panel which is a benchmark of Numisheet'2005 is used as the research object. this paper integrate response surface approach,dynamic explicit finite element analysis and orthogonal experiment design to optimize the geometry parameter of drawbead. Firstly, a series of typical drawing parts are arranged according to their structural feature. Then, according to the typical of structural feature, the geometry parameter of drawbead is qualitatively determined and the necessary to layout is studied. Secondly, synthesis evaluation function is used to evaluate the quality of forming parts. According to the structural feature of parts, this paper then determines the optimum design variable and object function. A optimum mathematic model is given. Thirdly, based on orthogonal experiment design and dynamic explicit finite element analysis, this paper uses response surface approach to optimize the geometry parameter of drawbead. Lastly, in order to prove this optimum method, the comparison between the optimum design result and the drawbead geometry parameter offered by the benchmark is carried. The results show that the optimum design is effective.
