With the development of economy, the requirement for the amount and quality of cold rolled strip is increased by the customers. To meet the need of cold rolling production, the comprehensive modern control mode is adapted base on the mechanical equipment, sensors, computer control.As the key of level-2 computer process control, model system does the work of rolling schedule calculation and setup calculation. The calculation result has big influence on the rolling speed , productivity , the accuracy of gauge and flatness. The technological factors are very important to the benefit of producer.In the paper, control model system of the tandem cold mill of 5 stands is researched. How to setup the reasonable rolling schedule, rolling strategy and how to improve the calculation accuracy of model are focused.(1) The used models with combination of the rolling theory and statistic are determined. The interface between models and parameters is determined. The needed data is stored in the rolling statistic tables(2) The different rolling strategies for the different product are researched according to the rolling reduction, rolling force and rolling motor power.The non-linear equations are created base on the relative proportion of rolling load. By solving the non-linear equations, the target thickness of strip can be reached.(3) The Newton-Raphson method is used for solving the non-linear equations. The simply method is discussed for how to finish the iterative calculation. The modification calculation methods are discussed for the safety of rolling.(4) For improving the calculation accuracy of rolling model, the adaptive optimizing method for the deformation resistance is discussed based on the exponential smooth method .The control model calculation program is developed based on the research. The accuracy , speed and stability of model calculation is discussed by the analysis of calculated result and actual values.
