For the problem of eco-environmental water requirements in Yellow River estuary, this paper analyses the current study situation of eco-environmental water requirements in domestic and international. With the hydrologic, ocean color remote sensing and sea surface temperature data from 2000 to 2003, a new model for calculating the eco-environmental water requirements in estuary is build. The main content of this study is shown as follows:1 The influence of runoff to ecological environment in Yellow River estuary is analyzed. The connotation of eco-environmental water requirements is renewed and enriched. In addition to the minimum eco-environmental water requirements, the basic and maximum ones are considered.2 By utilizing the high-tech romote sensing measures and IDL 6.2((Interactive Data Language v6.2) software, chlorophyll concentration data extraction and pretreatment of remote sensing images for the estuary is realized.3 Based on the relationship between runoff and ecological environment in Yellow River estuary, quantitative analysis between runoff and other sea area parameters including concentration of chlorophyll, sea surface temperature, sediment and water level is realized with the grey GM(1,1)model.4 Taking phytoplankton as the pivotal life-form, ANN(Artificial Neural Network) and SVMs(Support Vecter Mechines) are used to found a model to forecast eco-environmental water requirements in Yellow River estuary. This model can be used to make further research about the minimum, basic and maximum eco-environmental water requirements. It's not enough to only consider minimum eco-environmental water requirements as used studies for maintaining the ecological environment developed well and sostenuto. Pollution in the estuary will be increased while the water turns more so that there should be an upper limit also for the eco-environmental water requirements. Besides, the water should be in the range of eco-environmental water requirements and matches the changing course of it.Based on above studies, minimum, basic and maximum eco-environmental water requirements can be gained as well as eco-environmental water requirements range and course . These production can be used to regulate the water resource of the estuary and down stream of the Yellow River.
