The moisture absorption capability and moisture permeability capability of the fabric is an important index for the garment fabrics, they are related to the comfort and health capability of the fabric. When the vapor emanated from the skin surface can not easily permeate to the air, it will form a high humidity region between the skin and the fabric which makes people feel mugginess and discomfort. So it is necessary for the fabric, especially for the undergarment, to have good moisture absorption capability and moisture permeability capability. Wet permeability capability is a part of the whole wet passing capability and have an important inflection to the comfortable capability of the fabric. In recent years, the clothing comfort research, in particular, fast perspiration has aroused the concern of the industry scholars.In daily life, there is a large number of visual information from the outside world, about 1010 b / s. But the information judged and accepted by human's brain was only about 102 b / s. However, people are likely to evaluate the information which people see but have no time to judge by using image processing. By high-shooting to the research object, then use image processing to transform the picture just took, even if very subtle changes can be grasped. Therefore, it has an important significance to research the wet permeability of fabrics by using image processing technology.This task mainly researched two aspects: First, design a matching experimental device based on the traditional method of fall-drop, using the HG camera system which capture images fast to get the image when the liquid water diffuse in the fabric, programming a program for further processing the image, then drawing a appropriate eigenvalue curve; Secondly, studying fabric absorbent theory and further researching the experimental result and obtained curve, analyzing the changes when the water drop permeates in the fabric, researching the difference between the fabrics when the materials of the fabrics were different while the structural parameters were similar, analyzing the truth of fabric wet permeability.In this paper, the wet permeability of 9 fabrics based on the home-made fall-drop device were tested. Compared to the traditional methods, this method is dynamic and high precise and fast. Through research and correlation analysis, the following results and conclusions were indicated:(1)It is simple and efficient to use method of binary-conversion coefficient for image segmentation, the result is good to use this method to divide up the image which has been operated by subtracting and multiplying in this paper.(2)The wet transmit area -time curve of the hydrophilic fabric appears a obvious inflexion, crossed the inflexion, the wet transmit curve go to balance gradually, put up the shape of logarithm curve. The wet transmit area-time curve of the half-hydrophilic fabric have no obvious inflexion in the early stage. The shape of its curve is similar to a part of parabola which open downwards and large. The curve of the hydrophobic fabric also has no obvious inflexion in the time of testing and the curve developed like a line. The hydrophilic capability of the fibre which forms the fabric has a great influence to the fabric in the early stage. When the structure parameters of fabrics are similar, the change of wet area of the fabric was fast in the initial stage if the moisture absorption of the fibre was fine and go to the balance time will be sooner(3) The wet area-time curve of hydrophilic fabric like the hyperbolic curve but the wet area-time curve of hydrophobic fabric has no disciplinarian to be found.(4)The wet area that liquid water permeate in the fabric continue expanding along with time while the speed of diffusion continue to minish. But the downward change of the diffused speed is not symmetrical, it approaches zero in the constant fluctuations (5) To different materials, the wet permeability capability of the fabric is different in different stages, probably the wet permeability capability of the fabric is good in the initial stages but bad in the later stage. There is a critical number of time under the condition of fix quantify drop. We can use this connection to design the fabric based on the different use of the fabric.(6) In the study hydrophilic fabrics, the wet permeability of linen fabric was good in a short time while the wet permeability for ramie fabric was the best in a long time. For half-hydrophilic fabrics, the wet permeability of polyester / cotton Blended (50/50) fabrics is quite better. The fibres of polyester and nylon have no moisture absorption, but the wet permeation is better in a long time.(7) For the fabric can be soaked, the wet permeability of the fabric can be divided into two stages: the first stage with ample water, water transfers mainly along the capillary between the yarns; second phase the water is not abundant, water transfers mainly along the capillary between the internal fiber of yarn.
