Environmental Endocrine Disruptors (EEDs) are certain chemicals in environment that can modify the normal functioning of endocrine of organisms, and have negative effections on organisms, their offspring and species (subspecies). For EEDs are harmful to human beings and animals, the research of EEDs is worldwide concerned. The research of EEDs is also paid more and more attention in our country.Four kinds of Phthalic Acid Esters (PAEs) which are EEDs used in our lives were chosen as a research object in this paper. A method for determination of PAEs by using solid phase extraction (SPE, Glass Spe-ed Mate-12) on C18 cartridge and high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC, Agilent 1100) on Ultimate XB-Phenyl cartridge was established. The method was applied to analysze PAEs in drinking water in plastic barrel, tap water, pond water and PAEs soak out from plastic water bottle. The limits of detection of PAEs were: DMP0.041mg/L, DEP0.055mg/L, DBP0.105mg/L, DOP0.071mg/L.Linear correlation coefficient was over 0.999. The relative standard deviations of DMP,DEP,DBP were below 3.4%. The recoveries of the DMP,DEP,DBP were 96.8%~98.8%. The relative standard deviation of DOP was 7.7%. The recovery of the DOP was 64.9%. The method is a simple, available method to detect the concentration of PAEs in water samples. Two kinds of PAEs (DBP, DOP) were checked out in drinking water in plastic barrel, tap water, pond water and plastic water bottle. In drinking water in the plastic barrel, the concentration of DBP was 0.7μg/L and the concentration of DOP was 1.7μg/L. In the plastic water bottle, the concentration of DBP was 0.6μg/L and the concentration of DOP was 1.6μg/L. In the tap water, the concentration of DBP was 1.5μg/L. In the pond water, the concentration of DBP was 6.2μg/L. At last the method established in this paper was validated and competed by Liquid Chromatography -Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS), and a comparison of the two methods was given in this paper.
