Organic waste gases are poisonous and harmful.When they were released in air, they will not only make the surroundings contaminated, but also the nerve system and hematopoietic function will be affected badly even resulted in cancer,other disease or death if human contacted them long time. With the development of society, people's life and matter civilization improved and circumstance protect consciousness enhanced, the release of organic waste gases making the surroundings contaminated and the harm of human's health will become the focus. So eliminating the stress of circumstance and the harm to people's health, and reclaiming the organic waste gases efficiently are the problem realistically we had to faced, while keep the economy developed and the circumstance protected.The paper using novel carbon-based material activated carbon fiber as adsorbent develop the research on organic waste gases' adsorption and recycle. The adsorptive technology such as carrier gas flux,moisture content of gas,water content of activated carbon fiber itself,mixing with other organic waste gases and regeneration were investigated, and ethanol was used as adsorbate. Attribute to above work, it can be confirmed the technological conditions and parameters of activated carbon fiber absorbing organic waste gases. Chemical modification of activated carbon fiber is other important content of this paper. Firstly, different impregnant were used to dip activated carbon fiber, and then seeing about the effect of organic waste gases' adsorption from which changing different disposal, the concentration of salts and the technology of carbonization, using ethanol and toluene as the adsorbate. According the above work, it can be concluded the best impregnant and the preparation technology of activated carbon fibers' chemical modification. Secondly, the preparation technology of activated carbon fiber was simply explored. Lastly, FT-IR, XRD, TG-DTG, SEM, N2 adsorption technologies are used to characteristics the change of the function groups existed on the surface of activated carbon fiber, microcrystalline configuration, aperture and hole's configuration before and after chemical modification.The results show that activated carbon fiber can be used to reclaim organic waste gases. The best adsorptive technologies of activated carbon fiber are: the adsorption time is 20-40min, and the regeneration time is 10-15min. The adsorption properties of activated carbon fiber can improve effectively through adding impregnant to activated carbon fibers' chemical modification. The best impregnant is K2SO4 .The chemical modification optimum processes of activated carbon fiber are: 0.05wt% K2SO4 impregnating activated carbon fiber 4h in room temperature, the carbonization temperature is 700℃keeping 60min, the calefactive velocity is 3℃/min, the keeping gas flux is 100mL/min.After chemical modification, the iodine adsorption of ACF reached 1460mg/g, methylene-blue adsorption reached 421mg/g, benzene adsorption reached 738mg/g; The BET surface area of the activated carbon fiber is 1712.37m2/g; total pore volume is 0.816m3/g; micropore volume is 0.509 m3/g.It can be concluded that activated carbon fiber after chemical modification will used widely. Compared with primary activated carbon fiber, after chemical modification the adsorption capability is improved and the amount absorbed increased.
