In this study, borosilicate foam glass was made by sintering powder. The effects of different foaming agents , additives, sintering temperature, heating-up rate, foaming time, the granularity of some raw materials and the mixture powder on the pore structure and property of foam glass have been investigated.Different foaming effects of carbon and graphite were compared. The results showed that: the foam glass with carbon as foaming agent was porosity with uniform size (1mm) and closed pores, the density was 307kg/m3. When the mixture powder and the preparation were the same as the carbon being foaming agent, the foaming effects of graphite was not so good. Although the pore size was uniform, the average size was less than1mm, the density of the foam glass was high to 551kg/m3 .Sb2O3 is a good agent to enhance the foaming by supplying O for carbon oxidation reaction.The best quantiy is 0.3%~0.9% in this study.This study researched the effects of foaming temperature, heating-up rate and foaming time on the foam glass. The result showed that the foaming temperature is in a range, if too low, the heated powder couldn't foam well, but too high, the foam glass would had many large pores. Commonly, the rapid heating-up rate is good. But this study proved that even the rate was slow to 4oC/min , the foam glass with uniform size and regular figure pores could be also get, the sample was the biggish density as 524 kg/m3. The foaming time when the powder heated to the highest temperature lied on the size of the specimen, good foaming acquired neither too short nor too long time. In this study, the best foaming time was between 60min and 90min.The effects of granularity of some raw materials and mixture powder on the structure of foam glass were studied. The results indicated that: the best granularity of powder is between 0.1mm and 0.2mm. If overstepped this range, either too bulky or too fine, the foaming effects were not good. The granularity of foaming agent is also important to the structure of foam glass, from 0.1mm to 0.5mm is the best size.The result of the acid corrosion resistance showed that the resistance of borosilicate foam glass was good. The weight of sample has puny changed after dipped in boiling H2 SO4 with 2wt% concentration.
