Landfill leachate contains a variety of pollutants such as organic matter, ammonia, heavy metals, which are high in concentration and often change with time, weather etc. These lead to the difficulty in treating landfill leachate and there is no mature and perfect technology for landfill leachate treatment now.This study was carried out to investigate the feasibility of two kinds of physicochemical- biochemical combined technology in treating leachate landfill site of Liufang in Wuhan. The two technologies are"pretreatment+Anaerobic Sequencing Batch Reactor (ASBR)+Sequencing Batch Biofilm Reactor(SBBR)+coagulating"and"pretre- atment+Anaerobic Sequencing Batch Reactor(ASBR)+Sequencing Batch Biofilm Reactor(SBBR)+ coagulating+adsorpting". The results showed that the"pretreatment+ ASBR+ SBBR+ coagulating"process could remove89% COD, 99.1% NH3-N and 87.5% colorindex, respectively;the"pretreatment+ASBR+ SBBR + coagulat- ing+adsorpting"process could remove 96.5%COD, 99.1%NH3-N and 99.9% color index, finally, COD,NH3-N and the other water quality index reach the First-grade of State standard for sewerage comprehensive discharge Compared to"pretreatment+ASBR+ SBBR+ coagul- ating","pretreatment+ASBR+SBBR+coagulating+adsorpting"reached the highest pollutant removal efficiency and its outflow reach the mutuality request for landfill leachate. herefore,"pretr- eatment+ASBR+ SBBR+ coagulating+ adsorpting"is recommended for landfill leachate treatment.
