In recent 100 years, chemical industry developed at a very fast speed. As an important part of material industry, chemical industry creates materials and products to meet with human's need. However, at the same time, it consumes a lot of resources and produces much waste during production processes. Besides, the using and disposal processes of chemical products also bring much pollution. Chemical industry is a typical chain product industry. Thus, green supply chain management (GSCM) has become an important strategy for sustainable development of chemical industry and the society.However, the implementation of GSCM in the chemical enterprises is still in the beginning stage, and related researches are limited. Meanwhile, due to increasingly strict environmental regulations such as REGULATION concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), chemical enterprises are facing more environmental pressures and these Chinese chemical enterprises are meeting "green barriers" when they export products to Europe. GSCM is an important approach for chemical enterprises to improve their ecological performance. Industry cluster is a general economic style in the world, which has greatly promoted economic development. Chemical industry has developed with the style of large-scale, centralized clusters in many countries, and chemical industry clusters have been integrated based on supply chains. Therefore, this dissertation aims to study GSCM models combined with chemical industry clusters, which is important for Chinese chemical enterprises to improve their international competitiveness.Based on literature review, this dissertation proposes a research concept for sustainable development among chemical enterprises in China. A questionnaire is developed according to the literature and opinions from environmental experts in China and abroad. Statistical package of social science (SPSS) has been used as a software tool for data analysis. The GSCM practice factors as well as influence factors in the chemical enterprises in China have been identified according to the results of exploratory factor analysis. The current level of GSCM implementation as well as influence factors is studied through descriptive statistic analysis. Then the relationships between GSCM practices and influence factors are studied using the correlation analysis. In the following, the focus is turned to the study of the affecting pattern and extent of GSCM affecting factors to practical ones in accordance with the results of the regression analysis and a comparison of the situation in China to its foreign counterparts. The problems and weaknesses currently existing in GSCM in Chinese chemical enterprises have been identified and analyzed in the late paragraph, and GSCM models in chemical enterprises based on industry cluster have been suggested accordingly. At last, some relevant proposals about GSCM in two chemical industry parks (Shanghai and Dalian) are put forward with a combination of the actual situations.This thesis would facilitate Chinese chemical enterprises to improve the practical level of GSCM and support the decision-making in a scientific way. |
