Anaerobic digestion technology enjoys increasingly extensive application in sewage treatment for the its low energy requirements,operation cost,and excess sludge production,and also for it can recycle the generate digestion.Study on using Anaerobic Baffled Reactor(ABR) to treat photosensitive wastewater has been carried on.The content of the study include the production of the reactor,the inoculation and acclimation of anaerobic sludge,response system start-up operation,study on system operation at different operating volume load,study on the effect of every reactor compartment to sewage treatment,sludge characteristics in the reactor,and finally a preliminary study on the prospects of ABR reactor treatment process in practice application.Experimental results show that:1.ABR reflects the new ideas of multi-phase anaerobic process phases.In the starting process the reactor auto completes separation of micro-organisms in the selection process.In the reactor,every compartment culture the microbial community which was adapted to the relevant environmental conditions,and such phenominen embody the microbial characteristics of ABR.2.The best HRT of photosensitive wastewater treatment should be more than 13 hours,the COD removal rate can be up to 60%.When the volumetric load is at a high level,the compartmentin of the back would have an apparent role;the COD removal rate of the fourth compartment is relatively low at different load volume.3.In the entire process of experiment,the VFA concentration of the effluent was at a high level,and pH changed little along the direction of flow,alkalinity gradually declined with the degradation of organic matter.Photosensitive wastewater in anaerobic treatment process is prone to over-acidification,which should be strict to monitor to control.4.The environment temperature have some impact on ABR reactor treatment. However,when the temperature of the external environment is over 30℃,lowering the temperature of the ABR reactor took a little impact on the effect of removal.When the environment temperature is 35℃,the effect is also very good,when the temperature is below 30℃,the treatment is very poor.5.ABR reactor system have a simple treatment process,ecnomical investment,a low operating cost,reliable and user-friendly operation and management.ABR reactor also has an anti-blocking ability and anti-impact load ability,the sludge production is at a low rate.Compared to secondary biological treatment process,the impact of ABR on surrounding environment and economy are both very low,and so,ABR is particularly suit to China's vast number of small and medium-sized cities and towns in the treatment of high strength wastewater.
