In this article,we studied the coatings materials which used to make the well steel mould that has good properties quickly and economically by arc spraying.According to the basic requirements of the steel mould that it should have higher hardness,good abrasion performance,higher tensile strength and impact ductility which makes the mould has well resistance to deformation and has long life.Meanwhile,the steel mould materials should realize martensitic transformation which used to apply its cubical expansion effect to compensate partial built-in stress of the mould coating,consequently ensured the accuracy of mould copying.So we decided 3Cr13,65Mn,70#,82B steel wires as the steel mould materials by arc spraying.According to the experiment's property testing requirement,we carried out metallographic phase and hardness,wear resistance,tensile strength and impact ductility studies.According to metallurgical structure,we found that the four mould coatings all obtained the martensite structure.During the abrasion performance experiment by friction wear testing machine,we chose the 25# dowel and 50CrV dowel which by quenching treatment who used to wear with mould coatings,and used Cr12 die steel which also by quenching treatment in contrast with the four coatings.Its parameter is that the experimental axial force is 200 Newton,the revolving speed is 500 revolution per minute and the abrasion time is 22 minutes.Through weighed and compared as well as analyzed, the result indicate that the abrasion losses of the four coatings which adopted 25# dowel is greater than which adopted 50CrV dowel,which indicate that the abrasion form is adhesive wear.During the four coatings,the abrasion losses of 3Cr13 is the least that because 3Cr13 contains Cr2O3 phase.But its abrasion losses are about four times of Cr12 die steel.The average tensile strength of 3Cr13 is greater whose number is 131.55 megapascals and its impact ductility is 2.44 joule per square centimeter,which is 78.2%of Cr12 die steel(its impact ductility is 3.12 joule per square centimeter) which by quenching treatment at 960℃,then by low tempering at 210℃and two hours.The tensile strength of 65Mn is 2.20 joule per square centimeter which is also higher.From the above experiments and analysis,we conclude that the property of 3Cr13 steel wire is the best.So adopting 3Cr13 steel wire to spray is the most suitable.
